What you get without paying or signing up

  • Built-in starter decks cover Chinese (17 topic decks, 136 words), German (10 topic decks, 80 words), Spanish (10 topic decks, 80 words), Italian (10 topic decks, 80 words), French (10 topic decks, 80 words); Japanese and Vietnamese have smaller starter sets of 24 words each.
  • Spaced repetition scheduling with four ratings per card: Not yet, Hard, Got it, Easy.
  • Your own vocabulary: paste a table, drop a CSV file, or turn pasted text into cards.
  • Pronunciation practice on the Speak page, which checks what you say with speech recognition.
  • Backup, CSV download, a send-to-another-device link and QR code, and shareable deck links.
  • A ChatGPT app that can create and study decks inside a conversation.

What free means here, and what it does not include

The browser app is free and there is nothing to register. The trade-off of having no account is that your library lives in your browser: clearing site data can delete it, and there is no automatic sync between your phone and laptop. Export a backup, or use the send-to-another-device option, to move or protect your decks.

Cards are text vocabulary entries (term, pronunciation or reading, meaning, example sentence). The app does not offer cloze deletion, add-ons, or a native mobile app.

Start in about a minute

  • Open the app and pick a starter topic, or paste vocabulary you actually met this week.
  • Study the cards: try to recall the answer first, then reveal it and rate how it went.
  • Come back when reviews are due. The app shows what to practise next and keeps a daily target small.
